I didn't dissect the earthworm thankfully because they are disgusting af. I don't really know much about them other than they are from the phylum annelida. That means they are segmented worms.
I dissected the clam. They are from the phylum mollusca and class bivalvia. Clams are bivalves because they have to shells/valves. It was kinda cool to dissect them because it was my first time dissecting a clam. It was really boring at the same time because it was pretty basic inside, there wasn't much to it. I learned where the adductor muscles were and where the visceral mass was. I found the clams gills and its tongue. When we first got it the tongue was sticking out of the shells though.
The squid was my favorite dissection because there were many different things inside of it. My favorite part was taking out the pin and opening the ink sac. I opened up the stomach which was pretty gross. I found most of the different parts of it's body. I took out its beak. I opened up its mantle and found its gills and reproductive organs. Troy was too baby to dissect the squid though. Squids are from the phylum mollusca and the class cephalopoda. Cephalopoda translates to head-foot.
