For the start of the new semester, in the 3rd quarter the class dissected an earthworm, clam, squid, crawfish, and starfish. These were pretty gross (like everything else we dissected) and I learned a lot more about these creatures than ever I wanted to. The clam smelled digusting, as well as the others.
Third quarter basically consisted of making our Invertebrate book as well. I learned a lot of new stuff by completed this assignment with my partner Mckenna <3. There was alot of info i learned that id never see myself learning or even knowing.
The start of the fourth quarter we took a trip with our fellow 5th graders to the local Stuttgart zoo. It was a pretty chill day, so the weather being good made the whole thing even better. I personally like the monkeys the best but the marine animals were pretty cool too. Out of them I liked the seals the best though. In my group were Christian R. and our fifth graders Heinz and his twin brother. Our kids were pretty entertaining and I was laughing the whole day with them. The fish I had my project on was a triggerfish and it was interesting actually seeing it in person. Overall the whole zoo experience was super fun and I’m very happy we were able to go there, besides the fact that i was sick :/
Going further into the fourth quarter we came to the unit of covering sharks very in depth. I never knew a lot of the information I learned this quarter about them. I now have a better understanding of sharks and why they should be protected in our environment. We each had to present an aspect of a shark, mine being its body length. I discovered that a shark ranges from a couple inches to almost 25 feet in length. After this we started dissections.
Overall this class has been awesome and I’m glad I took it! I will surely miss you Ms. Green a lot and I hope the ugly underclassmen dont give you any trouble next year. It has been my pleasure to be in your presence every other day!
