So far this year we have done 3 dissections, and each have been different in their own unique way. We started off with the most basic of creature besides a sponge when we dissected the flatworm. In this dissection we found that a flatworm has a brain, sperm ducts, and a very basic digestive system. It was a really hard dissection though because the worm was so damn small and we had to cut its skin open without hurting any of its organs, which was extremely difficult. Then we had to like pin the skin down with pins so we could freely look and poke around on the inside of the worm. It was fun, and a great introduction into dissections.
Next, we dissected a clam. Well, actually, our group dissected #2clams because we're just that good at what we do. This dissection was much more difficult than the worm was. First of all it was the struggle to get that thing open, and then once we did finally get it open the organs and important parts of the body were in weird, unfamiliar places. We had a hard time finding out what was what and im pretty sure we like totally cut up some important stuff but who cared they're dead anyway. But anyways clams also have very basic systems including gills and a foot that they use to burrow or get food or something like that. Oh and the clams official name is Bivalvia which sounds like some indie hipster rock band or something.
AAAAAAAAnd finally, we dissected a squid a few class period ago. This was by far the biggest and most complex organism we've cut open this year. The squid had a brain, mouth under it tentacles, eyes, heart, stomach, and other organs that we as humans also have. This was a challenging dissection but also the funnest one yet because of how big and complex the squids were. I hope this is good enough for a good grade. Love ya Ms G
